This past Monday, we went to visit tattoo artist Adrian Lee from Analog Tattoo. If you were impressed by his 350 page, 12 pound book Bloodwork: Sleeves, then you'll definitely by blown away by his upcoming book Bloodwork:Bodies. Amongst 50+ tattoo artists from around the world, Orly will be featuring a back piece in the book scheduled to release sometime next year ish.

Legendary Steve Caballero Art Show. March 2nd, 2011
Cukui's next art show. For our next art show we are thrilled to have a living legend gracing our store and walls. World renown for his skating, his involvement with the notorious Bones Brigade, and for his signature Half-Cab shoe by Vans, Caballero has amassed a dedicated following for his craft. But little do people know this San Jose native is also an accomplished artist!
This show will be a blending of pop art, illustration, and portraitures that will reinvent your perception of this exceptional human being. If you're a fan of the Cab, skateboarding, and radical art you have to be here for this event! So bring out the family, invite your friends and join us in Japantown where the community is certainly taking on a new shape of its own.

This Friday we bring you "Proud Locals," Cukui x Breezy Collaborative Event. The event takes place this Friday, March 4th at the Cukui Flagship Store (229 Jackson Street San Jose, CA 95112) from 7pm-10pm.

Pow wow Hawai'i. Today marked the fourth and final day of POW WOW Hawai'i. Originally conceived and launched in part by Jasper Wong approximately one year ago in Hong Kong, the event made its second stop in Wong's native Hawai'i. The event's basis is to highlight the actual process behind creating art rather than only focusing on the final product. Having said that, over the last few days, the event which took place at Loft in Space was created with an open studio concept in mind. People were allowed to come off the street and watch artists work in a natural and organic environment.
The event incuded a mix of both local and international artists such as Meggs (Australia), Will Barras (England), Aaron De La Cruz (USA), 123klan (Canada), Jeff Hamada (Canada), Yue Wu (France), Suitman (USA/Hong Kong) and local Hawaiian personalities including Jasper Wong, Prime, Kamea Hadar and Ekundayo. This weekend, we'll be dropping a bunch of new Cukui gear including tees, sweaters and the Cukui x Mister Varsity Jacket.
In collaboration with San Francisco based designer Mister, we are releasing a black wool varsity jacket with reversible gray cotton fleece hoody. One side of the hood has Cukui raised embroidery peaking on the front top; the reversible side has tribal designs mirrored on each side of the hood. Sizes are available in S - 2XL.
Tee releases include Not For The Weak Hearted in black and red. Inspired by the Japanese daruma doll, we're also releasing the Cholo Daruma tees in black, white and cardinal red. And back by popular demand, we have the Hokusai Shark design on a crew neck pullover sweater in charcoal gray.

This weekend was a memorable one...Sunny days in the bay and alot of runnin' around. One of the first things I had to get done was for an art show at Sake Koji Lounge in Downtown San Jose, CA.
Started off painting the background with calligraphy letters, Chris and I got through on the Tribal top layer. I figured the painting was big enough for the wall and it turned out a bit smaller than I hoped for. But it ended up working out..
Then off to Santa Cruz, CA. Doing a little fishing with Jae, My Pops and Myself. Casted off the piers near the boardwalk. It was a real chill day, hooking the anchovies, and eventually catching nothing..lol. On to the next. Enjoy the pictures below..

Shop of the Day! Today we are visiting Swagger in Harajuku, Tokyo. The city knownfor its sushi rolls, sumo wrestlers and futuristic cars. Just about a year has passed since the grand opening of SWAGGER Flagship. In a stand alone building, which also include a PHENOMENON Flagship on the 2nd floor, located in the heart of Harajuku.

When you think about Tahoe in the winter, snowboarding and skiing, and just plain snow, come to mind. Well I dont really do either, anything attached to my feet, except shoes. So instead I did a guest spot at my friends tattoo shop, Lake Monster. Owner Reed and Narissa. Let me tell you about tattoo shops, usually lightweight dirty. This space was one of the cleanest spots I've ever been in, OCD at its finest. They never told me how busy it gets, on a saturday, so I found out. I tattooed all walk ins, Waikiki steeze... a micro butterfly, a horse with tribal? Praying hands with a cross behind it , and a Cherry Creek dragon. I haven't done a marathon like that in a while. Good Fun and a place I can definitely tattoo at again.

Following a successful start in Hong Kong, the art and music event known as POW WOW will change venues to the sandy beaches of Hawaii. The event conceived in part by the homie Jasper Wong, it will occupy his hometown of Honolulu starting Feb. 16th through the 19th. The event's premise will include an open event for people to stop by to watch the likes of Jesico Serano (Soul Signature/Humble Beginnings)123KLAN, Yue Wu, Meggs, Jeff Hamada, Prime and Kamea Hadar all work their creative magic.
Highly recommended event. Definate must see.

This Friday we are proud to release two new Fitted Caps (1/28/11) from our brethrens at Fitted Hawaii.
"It's also an ode to our sometimes forgotten servicemen who are sacrificing their lives, with strong military references prominently featured in these pieces. A lot of the pack's influence comes from the United States Army 24th Infantry Division which formed during WWII and stationed out of Hawai'i. Known previously as the Hawaiian Division.
The second cap is an all black cap called Subcon, the cap that follows is also all black, dubbed Kumulipo (roughly translated to original or the genesis). "
