What does it mean to be “bulletproof”? Is it to be unharmed from attacks and exterior damage? Is it about invulnerability? Or, could it be more the opposite. That in truth what we go through as individuals ready our
hearts and minds for the journey. That in fact our dreams and passions are enforced by the small failures
and victories. Knowing well enough alone our armor is easily pierced and penetrated. But, when joined
together with those of a kindred spirit, that armor is tempered and fortified to withstand all attempts to
destroy us.
For our first art show of 2012 we once again bring together people who keep us going. Shielded by their
friendship and love. Grounded and tethered by their faith. We are inspired to be standing with them, and
you who continue to support us and Japantown San Jose.

Fresh for 2012, We present our Spring/Summer 2012 lookbook, photographed by very multifaceted senior
editor, L. Ruano. Featuring a healthy stocking of T-shirts, hoodies and caps, the collection builds off the
hand-drawn graphics from Samuel Rodriguez and Orly Locquiao.
Spring 2012 provides a history lesson of sorts for the brand, showcasing its strong foundation in tribal
tattooing and graffiti, as well as blending Mexican and Polynesian cultures. Some Spring 2012 items are
already available here, with more to come in the near future.

Art Basel 2011. White Walls hosted four booths at SCOPE, situated in the center of Miami's Wynwood
Gallery Arts District, featuring a MTN Colors Group show with APEX, Neon, Estria, Vogue, Blek le Rat, HUSH,
Kofie and Chor Boogie.
As well as curating these spaces at SCOPE, White Walls also lead multiple projects throughout the city
of Miami for months leading up to, and during the week of Art Basel 2011, bringing the work of our renowned participating artists to the streets of Miami. Check it out!

The artist known as MITSY.. December 9th, 2011
What makes Mitsy one of our favorite artists is how she presents her artwork on all types of mediums
using inspiration across her entire childhood. I love that everything is in Spanish, references to the Berryessa Flea Market, minor details of bedazzling in her work, and the extra work she put into
presentation including all the cool little Mexican candies and pastries to the hanging paper plate lanterns.
And what makes it that much more awesome is that you don't have to be Mexican, you don't have to be
from San Jose, and you don't have to be from the 80s to appreciate the work Mitsy does.
At the opening reception on November 10th, we had the pleasure of having DJ Chatos1013 spinning
80s and Spanish tunes throughout the night. Authentic Mexican street food on three wheels we had
El Taco Bike from Oakland servin' up some hot delicious tacos! El Taco Bike is an ongoing project

Lifelong Travels..When I think of Europe all I think about is how expensive it is and how old the buildings are.
I have seen pictures on how beautiful everything is out that side of the world, but when you actually see those monuments, those churches, and meet the people, you will get blown away and appreciate the raw beauty
of what human hands can create.
We walked and ate soooo much I was surprised I didn't get a Gout attack! There is so much to see and 2
weeks was not enough. This was my first time and certainly not the last.

Cukui is proud to present "Afterlife", a solo exhibition and product release event by Erik Otto. Continuing
his development of capturing the moment where beauty meets chaos and uncertainty meets discovery,
Otto will be showcasing a select body of work centered around the theme afterlife. In conjunction to the
artwork, Otto will debut an all new design created exclusively for Cukui.
Erik Otto has been working professionally in the arts for almost 10 years. He has exhibited nationally
and internationally. In addition to painting, he has designed and constructed large-scale installations,
theater sets, retail storefronts, and independent film sets. Otto recently completed the acclaimed
Artist-in-Residence program at Recology San Francisco and is committed to working with reclaimed
paint and materials to produce work that is both expressive and conceptual. Otto currently lives and
works in San Francisco.

Taking The Crown. November 14th, 2011
Introducing the Battle Born BBoy Crew. They hail from Las Vegas and consist of members of b-boys ATN, RolandBlunts, Groucho, Fury, Nonski, Jafokes, Yoshi, Anthony, A.I., Ron Roxworth, Ruphio, Vidal and
b-girl Chez.
The crew participates in a dozens of events such as B-Boy Massacre, B-Boy Summit and Braun Battle
of the Year. B-boy ATN also took part in the latest Red Bull BC One Qualifier USA in Chicago. Many of the
members have had significant experience in dance theatre shows, so we expect killer choreography
and brilliant battle skillz in their routines.
The crew won the Braun Battle of the year USA qualifier in style on August 20 in LA, beating local crew The
Squadron and Milwaukee outfit Gravity Benders. It's the first time in three years that there was an American
qualifier for Braun BOTY.
"We want to bring this back to the origins of BOTY: crew battles, crew shows, family," said Battle Born after
winning the qualifier. "BOTY is a dream and this dream came true now - we will be trying to bring the title
back to the US."
